Joseph P. McMahon

Joe McMahon founded Lancaster Law Group in 2013 in order to provide thorough, knowledgeable, and aggressive representation to every client in every case. Lancaster Law Group prides itself on offering clients seasoned courtroom litigators appearing in the courtroom on a daily basis.

Joe personally handles Criminal Defense, DUI, Family Law, and Protection from Abuse (PFA) matters; but the firm has several attorneys who handle other areas of the law.

He is admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States District Court, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He has successfully argued before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Pennsylvania and Lancaster County Bar Associations.

In 2005, Joe earned his law degree from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law, and began serving as a law clerk at the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas.

After working for the Court, Joe accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) at the Office of the District Attorney of Lancaster County. During this time, he developed a reputation as a principled and aggressive litigator who dealt with a myriad of legal issues and complex cases.

While serving as an ADA, Joe handled cases from the preliminary hearing through jury trials and the appellate process. He served in multiple departments, including the Child Abuse/Sexual Assault, Felony Drug, and Post-Conviction Appeals units.

After gaining extraordinary litigation experience at the Office of the District Attorney, Joe left to start his own law firm, where he specializes in Criminal Law, Family Law and PFA matters.

Joe has litigated 1st Degree Murder Death Penalty cases down to minor traffic offenses. He has represented clients in multiple counties in Pennsylvania as an aggressive advocate for his clients’ rights.

Joe grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; attending Saint Leo the Great Elementary School and graduating from Lancaster Catholic High School.

He attended Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Joe graduated SJU in 2002 and enrolled at the Dickinson School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 2005.

When not practicing law, Joe enjoys spending his time with his wife and children. He is an avid sports fan and an active volunteer at has kids’ school and community. He has served multiple organizations, including as President of the Board of Directors for several years of Manos House, a drug rehabilitation center for teenage adolescents.
